Dear Friends and Family,
I hope you’re all doing well during these crazy times that we’re living in.
I wanted to update you all with some recent events in my life. As some of you know, I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. What initially began as a basic lumpectomy turned into a unilateral right mastectomy.
April was an emotional rollercoaster for me. Many tears were shed, multiple tests had to be run, and hundreds of questions ran through my mind. I was anxious, nervous and scared knowing what lay ahead and the life challenge I had to face. As days passed, I learned to embrace it -- this was my reality.
If you follow me on social media, my postings paint a very different picture. Despite my diagnosis, I continued to train karate, run, hang upside-down from the jungle gyms, and do the Superman push-ups I’ve come to love. The social media posts kept my spirit alive and kept me going. While they may have inspired you and many others, they inspired and pushed me too.
My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning, May 13th 2021 at 9:25am. I’ll be at the hospital bright and early... :)
This past week and a half leading up to my surgery, I have been very calm, relaxed and peaceful -- a zen-like state of mind. I’m a tad nervous today, but I know I’m in very good hands with both of my surgeons. My faith and belief in God, and the love and support from friends and family, has certainly made this journey easier.
I will be staying with my sister while I heal and recover. Fortunately, my parents live nearby, so my mom will be helping me too. My sister will initially update you with my status post-surgery.
With that, I ask for your prayers and a push-up... :)
With love and gratitude,
Christina
